On April 25 through May 30, Charles Lai will be exhibiting his beautiful nature photography in the Gallery Space of the Granville Arts Center.

Born in 1949, Charles Lai is a retired surgeon from Taiwan, ROC.  He was concentrating on photography when he was still a doctor. Upon retirement, he moved to the U.S. 20 years ago. When living in New York, he further studied photography at New York Photography Institute and graduated in 1996.

Charles Lai photographs his travels around the year. He visits the same places in different seasons in an attempt to catch different moods of the same spot. He has been to most national parks and special fields such as Idaho wheat field and the Colorado Mountains. He also makes travels to South America, China, Japan, and Europe, etc. many times a year.

Charles Lai loves landscape photography and he sees photography as a visual art and a camera, not just a tool to copy images. It also expresses his thought and creativity. His art works have been displayed in Taiwan Cultural Center; Artscape in Arboretum Dallas; Eisemann Center in Dallas (four times); Mary Karam Gallery in Denison; Forrest and Virginia Green-Mezzanine Gallery in Richardson.  Charles Lai has two major publications: An Autumn Banquet in 2005 and Ode to the Winder in 2007.
