Cooking School for Diabetics Offered in October

Do you have type 2 diabetes? Do you prepare food for someone with diabetes? Then you need to participate in "Cooking Well with Diabetes!" This cooking school consists of four, two-hour sessions. Each class will have a discussion topic led by a diabetes expert, along with a cooking show demonstrating appropriate recipes.

"Cooking Well with Diabetes" is sponsored by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. Certified Diabetes educators from Methodist Richardson Health Center and Centennial Medical Center Frisco will lead discussion topics. Topics include Carbohydrate Foods, Make Recipes with Fat Better for You, Double Pleasure Side Dishes and Celebrating Sensibly with Diabetes. 

The class will be held at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center, located at 17360 Coit Road on Thursdays, Oct. 10, 17, 24 and 31, from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. This facility is located at the intersection of Coit Road and McCallum Blvd. between the Bush Turnpike and Campbell Road.   

Registration ends October 4. The fee is $15 per person or $25 per couple. Registration fee includes handouts, recipes, bottled water and samples of prepared recipes. Bring a snack so you stay on your meal plan. Make checks payable to AFCS Committee@ and forward to Carrie T.
